Capstone Partners Advised AuthenTechnologies on its Sale to NSF International

Capstone Partners advised AuthenTechnologies (the Company), the world’s only provider of DNA-based species authentication technology, on its sale to NSF International.

Authentechnologies was launched in 2010 as the premier provider of DNA-based species identification services. The Company has developed innovative genetic sequencing technologies which are used to assure the authenticity, safety, and quality of natural products, from fresh and dried raw materials to supplements, food, and pharmaceuticals.

We are delighted that our technology will now be deployed globally to assure the authenticity and eliminate adulterants in the food chain. We founded AuthenTechnologies to bring the technology of genetic identification to botanical and other natural substances and welcome our new partners as they introduce these techniques to their broader customer base and the consumers they serve.

Michael Ewing, Managing Director at Capstone, commented, “This transaction represents a step towards change in the technology of food safety by enabling producers, distributors, and retailers to identify all of the ingredients in their foods at the most basic genetic level. We are pleased to have assisted AuthenTechnologies and NSF International and the consumers they ultimately serve in effecting this seminal change in the technology of food safety and believe it represents a sea change in the way the integrity of the food chain is protected.”
