Capstone Partners announced today that it advised Spectro, Inc., a leading provider of instruments and software for machine monitoring and maintenance, on its sale to SFW Capital Partners.
Spectro specializes in analytical instrumentation and software for machine condition monitoring. Founded in 1981, this Massachusetts company is one of the largest suppliers of oil and fuel analysis instruments to industry and the military worldwide.
SFW Capital Partners, of Rye, New York, is a private equity firm that invests in mid-sized companies providing analytical tools and related services. Spectro is the third analytical tool company that SFW Capital Partners has invested in over the past 18 months. “Analytical instrumentation is essential to providing the accurate data that drives critical decisions across business functions in a wide variety of industries,” said Roger Freeman, a SFW partner. “Spectro’s management has achieved steady growth over the past five years, and today the Company is the leading provider of analytical instrumentation and tools for oil and fuel analysis and machine condition monitoring.
