Jim is a Managing Director at Capstone Partners and has over 40 years of investment banking experience, leading successful industry teams and completing transactions totaling $15 billion. 

Prior to its acquisition by Capstone in 2025, Jim joined TM Capital in 2001 and served as the firm’s President and CEO from 2008 through mid-2025. In addition to overseeing TM Capital’s management and strategic direction, Jim has led many of the firm’s most noteworthy relationships and transactions, including the completion of over 60 engagements ranging from high-level board advisory, complex merger transactions, and multifaceted financings. 

Previously, Jim was Managing Director and Head of Corporate Finance for Prudential Securities Investment Banking. He joined the firm in 1989 and subsequently led the firm’s Southeastern Regional and Consumer Industries Investment Banking Groups before assuming overall responsibility for the firm’s Corporate Finance Group. Jim also served as a Vice President in the Investment Banking Group of Thomson McKinnon Securities Inc.

For over two decades, Jim has served as a Trustee and Investment Committee Chair of The Marcus Foundation. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Engelman Baking Company (controlled by Shoreline Capital), one of the leading institutional baked goods brands in the Southeast; Keystone Screw, a growing domestic manufacturer of specialty fasteners; and EarliTec Diagnostics, Inc., formed by Emory University, the Marcus Autism Center. He is also a Director, Audit Chair and Treasurer of The Georgia Aquarium, a co-founder and current Advisory Board Member of Hands On Atlanta, and a past President of The Temple.
