Four Capstone Partners Professionals Named Emerging Leaders by The M&A Advisor

Boston, MA – Capstone Partners is honored to share that several of its professionals are being presented with leadership awards from The M&A Advisor—the premier global network of M&A, Turnaround, and Finance professionals—at their Leadership in Dealmaking Summit. The event, held in New York, NY on September 21, 2022, will include presentation of both the 13th Annual Emerging Leaders Awards and the 21st Annual M&A Advisor Awards.

The annual Emerging Leaders Awards honors the achievements of outstanding young professionals who have reached a significant level of success in mergers and acquisitions, turnaround, and financing while still under the age of 40 and celebrates their accomplishments and contributions to progress in the industry. This year’s winners have been chosen from a pool of prominent nominees for their notable accomplishments in business and service to the community.

2022 Capstone Partners Emerging Leaders Award recipients include:

  • Jesse Betzner, Senior Director in Capstone’s Consumer Investment Banking Group.

Jesse has over 10 years of experience in M&A, corporate finance, and entrepreneurship, with a current focus on the apparel, accessories, & footwear and convenience store sectors. Capstone’s Head of Consumer Investment Banking Ken Wasik shared, “Jesse is a fast-rising calling officer at Capstone. He has successfully expanded his role from one of the firm’s top execution bankers in his industry to an outstanding calling officer. He is covering the convenience store sector at the firm and has already executed one of the most important transactions in that space.”

Chris is involved in the execution and advisory of M&A and strategic capital raises specifically focused on the packaging and precision manufacturing sectors. Capstone’s Co-Head of Industrials Investment Banking Ted Polk commented, “Chris is indeed an emerging leader within our organization. He is well-liked by both our clients and his colleagues, and he has a wealth of experience and knowledge that benefits every project he touches.” David Bench, Managing Director in Capstone’s Industrials Investment Banking Group, added, “This is a well-deserved and hard-earned recognition. In his time at Capstone, Chris has established himself as one of our savviest junior bankers. He has exhibited distinguished leadership in the industrials group in the following areas: private equity coverage, international banking partnerships, collaboration among teams, firm-wide meetings and presentations, and training/mentorship of junior staff. Chris has a bright future at Capstone and in the investment banking industry and we’re proud of his accomplishments.”

  • Whitt Larkin, Director in Capstone’s Education & Training Investment Banking Group.

Whitt has several years of M&A advisory experience across a variety of industries, and now specifically focuses on education. Jacob Voorhees, Head of Education & Training Investment Banking, said, “Whitt embodies the entrepreneurial spirit and a community first approach that was the core of Capstone at its founding. Aside from adeptly managing his execution responsibilities for clients, Whitt finds time to run his own business and volunteer locally. Being an entrepreneur himself allows him to identify with clients and provide direct and learned advice.“

  • Sam Matlin, Director in Capstone’s Industrials Investment Banking Group.

Sam has over 12 years of experience serving clients on transactions involving M&A, divestitures, valuations, recapitalizations, and other corporate finance assignments. He is currently spearheading the firm’s coverage of the cannabis ecosystem sector. Paul Janson, COO of Capstone, added, “Sam is on a fast track to becoming the youngest Managing Director at Capstone. His ability to drive new business is exceptional and his development within our organization has been awesome to witness.”

“The Emerging Leaders Awards were born as the ‘40 Under 40 Awards’ in 2010 to recognize and celebrate the achievements of young M&A, Financing, and Turnaround professionals who have reached a significant level of success and made notable contributions to their industry and community. With the challenges undertaken over the past two years, the 2022 award recipients join a truly remarkable, global network of outstanding young professionals,” said Roger Aguinaldo, Founder and CEO of The M&A Advisor.
