Boston, MA – Capstone Partners is pleased to announce that Managing Director Jamie Lisac was named “Distressed Dealmaker of the Year” by the M&A Advisor for its 16th Annual Turnaround Awards program. Lisac joined the firm in late 2020 and has been responsible for spearheading the growth of Capstone’s Special Situations Investment Banking Group (SSIB).

SSIB offers a full suite of services, including buy- and sell-side M&A, debt and equity capital raises, balance sheet restructurings, and advisory to boards and committees, executed by highly experienced bankers.

“The term ‘special situations’ is sometimes reductively defined as an M&A solution for distressed businesses, but more broadly it really encompasses any M&A and capital markets transaction that is not a regular way transaction which may include financial distress, an industry out of favor or is highly cyclical, a company experiencing continually declining revenues and/or margins, or company specific issues such as the loss of a large customer(s) or fraud,” said Jamie Lisac, Head of Special Situations. “SSIB’s bankers have a broad range of situational and industry experience and in combination with our highly experienced, healthy M&A industry bankers, SSIB brings  extensive resources and deep experience to our clients facing a difficult, and frequently out of their control, set of circumstances. SSIB and its professionals have a proven track record of achieving superior outcomes for our lower middle-market and middle-market clients and their stakeholders.”

SSIB leverages its collective experience across a broad range of situations and industries to work seamlessly with Capstone’s industry M&A and Financial Advisory Services professionals to bring a highly coordinated, cross-disciplined, efficient, and effective approach to every transaction process.

In 2021, Capstone’s SSIB group closed a number of transactions, including the sale of Covail to GoSecure – a transaction that was awarded the 2022 Turnaround Atlas Special Situations Deal of the Year.

“The results of the past year and a half have really shown the impressive capabilities of SSIB,” said Brian Davies, Managing Partner of Capstone’s Financial Advisory Services (FAS) group. “What Jamie and his team have accomplished — not only closing a significant number of special situation transactions but also lending their expertise in support of our healthy M&A teams – is a great example of the value our clients receive when working with Capstone Partners. We expect  there will be an increase in special situations transactions in the near future. With Jamie and our expanded SSIB team in place, Capstone is very well-positioned to assist those clients experiencing a difficult situation. The entire firm congratulates him on his well-deserved recognition as Distressed Dealmaker of the Year and are excited to see what SSIB accomplishes in 2023.”
