Capstone Partners Launches into 2021 with M&A Advisor Wins

Boston, MA – Capstone Partners, a leading middle market investment banking firm, is honored to announce the receipt of several transaction and leadership awards from M&A Advisor, the premier global network of M&A, Turnaround and Finance professionals.

Capstone winners will be officially recognized during several upcoming M&A Advisor Awards celebrations taking place throughout the month of January, including: 12th Annual International M&A Awards, 19th Annual M&A Awards, and 11th Annual Emerging Leaders Awards.  The Awards recognize excellence in deal making, accomplishments, and the contributions of leading firms and professionals in the investment banking industry.

12th Annual International M&A Awards

  • Corporate/Strategic Deal of the Year (Over $50mm to $100mm) and M&A Deal of the Year (Over $50mm to $100mm) having advised Global Sales Training Inc. dba Richardson on its acquisition by Sales Performance International.  Founded in 1978 and headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, Richardson is widely recognized for its excellence in driving superior sales skill improvement with its Consultative Selling approach and Connected Selling Curriculum™.  The curriculum is delivered via a best-in-class, blended learning approach with industry leading instructors and Richardson Accelerate™, the company’s digital learning platform.  The transaction, closed in November 2019.

19th Annual M&A Awards

  • Financials Deal of the Year having advised BankTEL on its acquisition by AvidXchange.  Based in Columbus, MS, BankTEL is a provider of A/P invoice & accounting automation solutions for more than 20 percent of banks across the U.S.  The transaction, closed in October 2019, was led by Managing Director David Francione.  “It is with pleasure to accept this award from M&A Advisor.  On behalf of our experienced team at Capstone and our client BankTEL, we could not have been more pleased with the outcome,” commented Francione.  “Knowing there were numerous transactions that were nominated, we are honored Capstone’s Fintech team was chosen for its financial services deal of the year award.  BankTEL’s 20-year history of providing B2B invoicing and payments solutions to the country’s banks allowed it to become the solution of choice for Avid as it expands its financial services vertical.  Avid’s unique technology capabilities allowed it to see a path forward to be able to monetize the billions of invoice payments flowing through BankTEL’s platform.”
  • Cross Border Deal of the Year ($10mm-$25mm) having advised Rook Security on its acquisition by Sophos.  Based in Indianapolis, IN, Rook Security is a pioneer and leader in managed detection and response (MDR) services, providing a 24/7 team of cyberthreat hunters and incident response experts to protect the networks and data of businesses of all sizes. The transaction, closed in July 2019, was led by Managing Directors David Brinkley and Tom McConnell.  “It is our distinct pleasure to accept this honor from M&A Advisor,” commented Brinkley.  “We do so on behalf of founder J.J. Thompson and the entire team at Rook Security, that have worked tirelessly to bring confidence to global organizations in an increasingly uncertain cyber risk environment.  The transaction with Sophos, now a portfolio company of Thoma Bravo, represents a bold move into the rapidly evolving market for managed security services, and the Capstone team was privileged to play a role in bringing the partnership together.”

11th Annual Emerging Leaders Awards

  • These Awards celebrate the accomplishments of professionals, whose significant level of success while still under the age of 40, establishes them as the industry’s emerging leaders. The following individuals at Capstone have been named as Emerging Leaders: Yogesh Punjabi, Director in the Consumer & Retail Group and Jack Wagner, Business Development Associate.
