Boston, MA – Capstone Partners’ Financial Advisory Services (FAS) group is pleased to announce that Matthew Hart has joined the practice as a Managing Director focused on Special Situations Investment Banking. He has more than twenty years of experience advising, financing, and investing in companies in transition, across most major industries.
“We are really excited to have a professional of Matt’s caliber join our team,” said FAS Managing Partner Brian Davies. “Not only is his restructuring and special situation financing expertise a great addition to our capabilities, but his location in the key New York market will support our continued geographic expansion.”
Over the course of his career, Mr. Hart has advised on nearly 100 transactions totaling over $180 billion, including debt raises and restructurings, special situations mergers and acquisitions, liability management transactions, and public and private equity raises. Clients have included companies and their owners, lenders and bondholders, statutory committees, and other parties-in-interest and range from private, lower middle market companies to publicly traded, household names such as Lehman Brothers, General Motors, Chrysler, American Airlines, and Kodak.
Prior to joining Capstone, Mr. Hart was a senior investment banker at Lazard, Jefferies, and Intrepid Financial Partners. He also spent a number of years on the buyside as a special situations lender and investor at Merrill Lynch, Eos Partners, and FLC Credit. He began his career analyzing and trading asset-backed securities. He earned a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor (CIRA).
